以前我只是在别人的嘴里，或者报纸杂志上了解过长城，觉得长城锦绣壮观，但从没有去过长城。今年寒假，我到了北京，终于可以亲近一下长城了。

来到长城脚下，抬头就看到了这宏伟的长城，古人真厉害啊，他们是怎么把一块块砖运上去造出这锦绣壮观的长城的呢？

沿着台阶，我们一路走一路看，我看到城墙两边老是有规律地分布着个个小口子，爸爸告诉我，这是城墙的射箭口，古人在打仗时就是从这个射箭口把箭往关外射的。我一边听一边看，马上就走到第一个“堡垒”—烽火台。爸爸又告诉我，这个也是为战役服务的，古代通信不发达，信息传播很慢，在敌军入侵时，战士们就会在第一个烽火台上点上火，隔了很短间隔，第二个烽火台的战士看到了烟火，也就赶快点上火，这样一个个传递下去，所有的烽火台上都浓烟滚滚，就会集中兵力，做好迎战的预备。说到这些，爸爸又给我讲了烽火戏诸侯的故事。
